"Luminous Landscape" (Gregg Stott) recently write a list of ten movies every photographer should see - I found it via a thread on FlickrCentral.

I already had a couple of them on DVD - Barry Lyndon, and Kurosawa's Dreams; and I have seen some of the others - the Last Emperor, Raise the Red Lantern, The Third Man.

Everyone would probably come up with their own list - in fact there was a very long thread with suggestions on Flickr, but this did make me think about what I look for in a film - it might be good direction, or good cinematography, or the story - it doesn't have to be a blockbuster with 'kick-ass special effects'.

I decided to order a couple of DVDs of others in the top 10 list - Baraka, Days of Heaven and Visions of Light.
